Data from the streaming giant revealed that Nigerian singer, Burna Boy emerged the number one artist in Nigeria for the year 2022.
This was according to the ranking by Spotify Wrapped, the annual list of what users listened to the most during the year. The catalog typically includes a user’s top artists, songs and podcasts, and other personalized stats about what they stream.
The music streaming giant confirmed that Burna boy was the most streamed artist in Nigeria in 2022, followed by Asake, BNXN, formerly known as Buju, Wizkid and Davido.
Fireboy, Omah Lay, Rema, Kizz Daniel and Zinoleesky and Victony were the artists at the mid table of the rankings.
The top five songs on the list were Burna Boy's Last Last, Asake's Peace Be Unto You (PBUY), Fireboy's collaborative efforts with Asake on Bandana, Pheels' Finesse and Asake's Omo Ope once again on the list.
Batman Unburied, Archetypes, El podcast de Mariam Rojas Estape, were the best new podcasts of 2022.
Spotify similarly revealed that Bad Bunny was the most-streamed artist globally in 2022, with more than 18.5 billion streams around the world this year. This was followed by Taylor Swift, Drake and The Weeknd.
