Igbo creatives lack a sense of community- Ugoccie
The rapper who rose to fame with her viral single "Do You Really Like Me?" explained that the lack of a sense of community doesnt foster growth.
Nigerian rapper, Favour Ugochi Anosike, popularly known as Ugoccie, has decried the lack of community and togetherness in the Igbo community.
Ugoccie, who spoke yesterday on a Twitter Space themed "#AlaigboCreativeCicle" lamented the one man narrative that Igbo creatives keep flaunting, stating that it wasn’t progressive enough.
She said, "We do not have a community of people that are intentional about creatives in alaigbo. We have a lot of influencers from the South East of Nigeria pulling their weight in the TikTok space. But there is no community of people that are trying to push a form of narrative from the place that we are from. There is no connectivity or togetherness from our people and they do not see the need for that."
The rapper, who rose to fame with her viral single "Do You Really Like Me?" explained that the lack of a sense of community means a lot of things would not be put in place.
The Headies Rookie of the Year nominee also stated that whenever someone comes up with a community idea, it is always nice until the time comes for implementation, and nobody comes around.
